Goals for 2010

Here are some things that I want to change about my photography this year....

  1. I need to take more pictures!!!!!
  2. I have noticed that a lot of my pictures are really saturated and over processed... I want to stay away from that and let the original picture do the talking. Not to say that I wont edit my photo's, but I want to limit the extent to which I do edit them . In other words I really want to my pictures to look natural.
  3. I want to use less effects on my pictures (sepia, vignettes, etc.). UNLESS I think the picture is better suited with one of those effects i.e. the "Looking Over Your Shoulder" shot.
  4. I want to be good at processing images in black and white.
  5. I need to emulate some of my favorite photographers, and read more about the art of photography.
Well here we go! If you see an over usage of effects, and over processing let me know!!! Accountability is much appreciated!

Looking Over Your Shoulder

I love taking pictures of people when they are not looking. I feel you can get a sense of what they are actually feeling and experiencing at that particular moment. If you look back at most pictures taken of people they are not themselves. Imagine going to a restaurant with a significant other and the food is bad and the conversation is stale, and you ask the waiter to take a picture of you two; more than likely the picture is going to say, "We were so happy with our restaurant choice, and we enjoyed one an others company!" I dunno, I guess what I am saying is that I want to take more pictures of people with their guards down. Lets see how it goes!!

Bookends

I was listening to the song "Bookends" by Simon and Garfunkel while editing this shot, I guess thats why I am calling it that. I think this shot go's well with the song too. ALSO, this is my first processed RAW file (its about time)! Pretty stoked!
